“Here, In My Time’s” Future
It seems surreal to me that my life has changed so drastically, yet when I wake up every morning I still find myself waiting for it all to fully kick in. The air is cool this spring morning, or as the old timers would say, “Its airish today.” Either way I sit here with my cup of coffee admiring the rolls of steam leaving the brim with my pen in hand. It is the perfect day for writing. I promised to write about my future plans, so, with the first sip forming a warm sheen within my chest, I shall.
“Here, In My Time” came to me as a daydream such as now when I begin to drift away from the words on my page to the field across the way, with its gold slumbered stocks awaiting the farmers fresh turn of the soil for the new season. Nothing new to me, daydreaming, but now it comes with a glimpse of reality. What I once escaped into these past years, not out of discontentment but a strong faith that my purpose lies somewhere beyond what I knew then, has brought me here to this moment. Beginning a journey God has placed on my heart.
Have you ever heard the song called, “In The Time That You Gave Me,” by Joey and Rory Feek? If you haven't , I encourage you to do so. Within that song there is a question that is beckoning an answer, “Did I do all I could do in the time that you gave me?” What started for me as a spark of genuine interest in people and their stories, have evolved into a knowledge that this idea of gathering and sharing stories is a way to make a difference.
I opened my email yesterday to find a beautiful email from a listener who had found me through the episode with Teal Stone Homestead. Her name was Chelsey and she wanted to tell me how much she has enjoyed the show but what she shared with me became the highlight of my first week on my own after quitting my job. She wanted to thank me for making something that even her 7 year old daughter could listen to. They had made it a nightly routine, at bed time, to listen into my podcast, and from that, Keziah, fell in love with podcasts. She decided she would make her very own podcast to share with her family and friends. Chelsey generously shared an episode of Keziah’s podcast and this simply darling little “bunny-preneur'“, gave me the sweetest shout out. It was a taste and conformation that my tag line to my whole umbrella title of “Here, In My Time”, is “Bridging the gap between generations". How wonderfully touching that email was for me, so thank you Chelsey and Keziah!
With all that being said, I have plans to take this idea and expand it into so much more. Season 2 of the podcast will be premiering June 1st. I am taking the month of May to accumulate, record, and photograph stories to share with you. One of the biggest changes I want to add to the episodes or to an episode is to introduce a music segment. This is something I don’t full have figured out for every episode but I do have one special episode planed for this second season that I am so excited to produce for you. I see this as a way to add a taste of sitting around enjoying music together. I grew up on the porch, playing music late into the night, and those moments were always sessions of story and song. So, I would like to bring that to you as much as I can.
I have had the opportunity to meet a lot of people by happenstance when I had my camera around my neck. Those moments have always been the driving forces for my photography and I plan to keep it that way! I hope to bring you stories not only from our local communities but I also want to bring you stories from all over. As I capture, travel, and create, I want to share it with you because there is so much good in this world that we don’t always get to see.
For everything that I do online I want to counter it was much as I can with a tangible difference within my community, because real life conversations and experiences are far more important than any social media presence. One way I hope to do that is to begin teaching and developing classes for different skills, from photography to old-time skills such as broom making. This where we can learn, gather, and create something together. We all need more tangible resources to spend our time on and with, and why not do it with the people around us?!
There is so much to all of this that I want to share but for now I hope that I can offer encouragement and joy to your week through my weekly writings and photography! (Hopefully some videos) As I get this all off the ground I hope to see you around town. Make sure you introduce yourself and say hi, I would love to meet and get to know you! I am the brown headed girl with usually two camera around her neck, possibly a bandanna or hat of some sort. You will never be a bother!
If you would like to support my journey to create a difference through stories, photographs, and much more; make sure to subscribe to all my platforms and share “Here, In My Time” with your family and friends. This will help you keep up to date with all the “goesings ons” and it helps bring more possibilities for the future of bridging the gap between generations. Thank you so much for your support and for being a part of my journey. I hope your documenting your life, know your stories is incredibly important!
Until next Thursday,
Bye bye
